These Cassette Plugs are used in Hobie Mirage kayaks to seal the MirageDrive well when the pedal drive is not installed. This prevents water from entering the kayak cockpit, or flowing up through the well and over the deck while also reducing drag.
The Cassette Plug is useful when you’re looking to paddle the kayak traditionally with an oar/paddle or use the kayak as a standup paddle board (SUP). The Cassette Plug is also recommended to be installed to strengthen and protect the well during transportation and storage.

Hobie Cassette Plug Sizing Guide
- Universal Cassette (10cm height): Fits all models. This cassette is supplied with Hobie’s Passports, iTrek inflatables and Eclipse range #81538
- Standard Height (10cm height): Fits most Hobie Mirage kayak models excluding the Passports, iTrek inflatables and Eclipse range #81535001
- Tall height (16cm height): Fits 2015+ Hobie Pro Angler kayaks as well as 2015+ Adventure and Tandem Island models #81536001
Please Note
- Pre-2015 Hobie Pro Angler kayaks will not require a ‘Tall size cassette’. These kayaks were supplied with the standard-size cassette – Part# 81535001
- If in doubt, measure the height of your MirageDrive well and compare it to the measurements listed above. If you’re still unsure, please contact our friendly team for advice.
- Hobie has re-engineered the cassette plugs to be significantly more durable than the originals. If you are seeking to upgrade or replace an original cassette plug, the Universal or Standard sizes will be compatible with your well
