The Hobie MirageDrive GT with Kick-up Fins (MDGT) is an efficient and durable pedal system for Hobie kayaks. The MD-GT comes standard with Glide Technology for enhanced efficiency of around 10% over it’s predecessor. The glide technology also reduces drive wear making this pedal drive extremely reliable, and providing smooth performance for many years. It also features Hobie’s legendary Kick-Up Fins that automatically retract when they encounter underwater obstacles or groundings, preventing damage and ensuring a smooth and carefree ride. Exploring shallows or beaching? Simply push one of the pedal cranks all the way forward and the fins retract up against the hull.
The MD-GT comes standard with the most efficient fin design on the market with Hobie’s patented Square Fin technology, providing unparalleled performance and maneuverability. Equipped with cranks that adjust with the push of a value, this system is comfortable for users of all sizes from kids to tall adults. The MirageDrive GT is available with either standard fins or the larger Turbo Fins for increased speed and power. Hobie’s clever “click and go” design also makes the MD-GT with Kick-up Fins backward compatible with many older Hobie kayak models with standard Mirage wells, for those looking to upgrade an older MirageDrive unit.
